Iran vows decisive response after Israel strikes Hezbollah

Iran’s President, Masoud Pezeshkian, called for a “decisive response” after Israeli forces killed several Hezbollah leaders.

Pezeshkian condemned the Israeli strikes during a cabinet meeting on Sunday, describing them as criminal actions.

He emphasized that Lebanon’s Hezbollah fighters should not face the conflict alone.

For decades, Iran has supported Hezbollah, providing arms and training to the group to counter Israel.

Pezeshkian criticized Western countries for false promises of a cease-fire after Iran refrained from responding to the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in July.

He also condemned Israeli airstrikes in Yemen targeting Iran-backed Houthi rebels, calling Israel a “brutal regime.”

Pezeshkian urged all Islamic nations to take a stand.

In a separate development, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu appointed former rival Gideon Saar to his Cabinet.

Saar will join the Security Cabinet, further solidifying Netanyahu’s power amid the ongoing conflict.

Saar had been expected to replace Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, but the deal fell through following intensified fighting with Hezbollah.
