Israel closed the Rafah border crossing between Gaza and Egypt on Saturday following joint strikes on Iran with the United States, officials said.
The decision came hours after Israel launched coordinated attacks alongside its American ally, escalating regional tensions already running high.
The Israeli agency overseeing civilian affairs in Palestinian territories, COGAT, announced the measure in a formal statement.
“Several necessary security adjustments have been implemented, including the closure of the crossings into the Gaza Strip, among them the Rafah Crossing,” the agency said.
It added that the rotation of humanitarian personnel in Gaza was postponed until further notice because of the security situation.
The Rafah crossing is the only exit point for Gazans that does not pass through Israeli territory.
For many residents, it represents a narrow window to medical treatment, study and family reunions beyond the enclave.
The crossing reopened for limited passenger movement on February 2 after nearly two years of closure.
Israeli forces had seized control of the crossing during the war with Hamas, tightening restrictions on Gaza’s access to the outside world.
Saturday’s closure once again seals that fragile gateway, as regional hostilities ripple beyond borders and into civilian life.
