The Israeli military announced on Tuesday that troops have initiated “targeted ground raids” in villages of southern Lebanon.
These incursions, supported by airstrikes and artillery, began “a few hours ago” and focus on the militant group Hezbollah.
The military’s statement indicated that the operations are concentrated in villages close to the border with Israel.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a stern warning to Iran on Monday, following a recent airstrike in Beirut.
This airstrike resulted in the death of the leader of Hezbollah, a group supported by Tehran.
Netanyahu emphasized that “there is nowhere in the Middle East Israel cannot reach.”
U.S. officials confirmed that Israeli troops are conducting small raids across the border, but provided no additional details.
In response to the recent events, Hezbollah’s acting leader vowed the group would continue to fight on.
Naim Kassem stated that if Israel escalates with a ground offensive, Hezbollah’s fighters are prepared to respond.
He confirmed that the group has already replaced commanders recently killed in Israeli operations.
Recent airstrikes in Beirut and Gaza have resulted in multiple casualties, escalating tensions in the region.
