At least two people were killed during a large drone attack on Moscow and the surrounding region, according to Russian authorities.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said more than 1,600 drones were intercepted during the attack.
He said about 450 of them were heading towards the Russian capital.
A major oil refinery in Moscow was also damaged.
The developments were reported by Al Jazeera and AFP, citing Russian officials.
Two killed near Moscow
Moscow regional Governor Andrey Vorobyov said a 44-year-old woman and an elderly man were killed in separate locations.
He also said a drone crashed into a 21-storey residential building.
The incident caused a fire and forced around 400 people to evacuate.
Authorities did not immediately report further casualties from the building.
Moscow oil refinery damaged
Sobyanin said a facility at the Moscow Oil Refinery was damaged during the attack.
Emergency services responded to the site.
He said there were no reported casualties at the refinery.
The facility has previously been targeted during Ukrainian strikes.
Ukraine has increased long-range drone operations against targets inside Russia during the war.
Energy infrastructure has been among the targets.
Attack comes during Russian elections
The attack happened on the final day of Russia’s three-day parliamentary elections.
Sobyanin accused Ukraine of attempting to disrupt the vote.
Ukraine had not publicly responded to that specific allegation at the time of the report.
Meanwhile, Ukraine reported another wave of Russian drone attacks overnight.
Ukraine’s Air Force said Russia launched 138 drones across the country.
It said Ukrainian air defences shot down or neutralised 101 of them.
