The number of journalists killed in the attacks by the Israeli army on the Gaza Strip since Oct. 7 nears 100, according to the government in the enclave late Thursday.

The death of Ala Abu Muammer brought the number of deaths to 98, the Media Office said in a statement.

It did not provide details about Abu Muammer’s death.

Media Office said previously that Israel “intentionally” killed journalists in Gaza to silence “the Palestinian narrative, concealing the truth, and deliberately preventing news and information from reaching regional and international public opinion.”

Israeli ground forces have in recent weeks, advanced into northern Gaza, leading to intense clashes with Palestinian resistance fighters.

Since Oct. 7, when the Palestinian group, Hamas, conducted a surprise on Israel, the Israeli army has been waging a destructive war on Gaza, resulting in 20,000 Palestinian deaths and 52,600 injuries, mostly among children and women.

The conflict has also caused extensive damage to infrastructure and an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe, according to authorities in the Gaza Strip and the UN.
