Pope Francis, currently being treated for double pneumonia, has had a restful night and is continuing to rest, the Vatican announced on Thursday.
The Vatican offered an optimistic update on the pope’s health late Wednesday, noting a “slight further improvement” in his condition. Additionally, it confirmed that a previously reported “mild kidney insufficiency” had been resolved.
While the pope’s health is showing signs of recovery, the Vatican refrained from clarifying whether he remains in critical condition, as he has since Saturday. The statement emphasized that, despite these positive changes, his prognosis remains “guarded.”
At 88 years old, Pope Francis is now in his 14th day at Rome’s Gemelli Hospital, marking the longest hospital stay of his papacy.
