Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has invited the leaders of Gulf Arab nations, Egypt, and Jordan to an informal meeting in Riyadh on Friday, the kingdom’s state news agency reported.
The talks come as Arab states work on a post-war reconstruction plan for Gaza, countering a proposal by former U.S. President Donald Trump to redevelop the enclave as an international resort after relocating its Palestinian population.
Saudi Arabia described Friday’s meeting as informal and taking place “within the framework of the close brotherly relations that bring together the leaders,” according to the Saudi Press Agency.
“As for joint Arab action and decisions related to it, these matters will be discussed at the upcoming emergency Arab summit in the sisterly Arab Republic of Egypt,” SPA said, referring to a high-level meeting scheduled for March 4 to address the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Trump has suggested that Egypt and Jordan accept resettled Palestinians from Gaza, a proposal both nations have firmly rejected.
