Scorching heat killed 61,000 Europeans in 2022 summer – study

According to a study released on Monday, Europe’s exceptionally hot summer last year resulted in the deaths of over 61,000 individuals due to the heat.

The study emphasized the need for increased measures to safeguard against even more fatal heatwaves projected in the future.

In a study published in the journal Nature Medicine, European researchers cautioned that if an adequate response is not implemented, the continent experiencing the most rapid warming could witness an average of over 94,000 heat-related deaths by 2040.
