The South African Foreign Ministry issued a statement condemning the attack as a violation of Iran’s sovereignty.
The ministry also highlighted the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, urging an immediate ceasefire and the delivery of humanitarian aid.
Foreign Minister Ronald Lamola expressed particular concern over the Israeli ground operation in North Gaza and the destruction of the Kamal Adwan Hospital.
He emphasized that the targeting of medical facilities and the detention of medical personnel constitute a grave violation of international humanitarian law.
South Africa called for the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 2735, which outlines a three-phase plan for a Gaza ceasefire.
Somalia also joined in the condemnation, urging the international community to take decisive action to preserve regional security.
Israel launched the attack on Iranian military facilities in retaliation for a large-scale Iranian missile strike.
The US has warned Iran against retaliating, while several countries have expressed concern over the potential for a wider conflict.
