Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan has accused the U.S. and Western countries of interfering in Tanzania’s internal affairs.
During a speech in Moshi on Tuesday, Hassan condemned foreign diplomats for demanding an investigation into the murder of Ali Mohamed Kibao, a former opposition leader.
The president criticized Western nations for focusing on Tanzania while overlooking their own issues, such as gun violence in the U.S.
The U.S. Embassy had called for a probe on September 9 after Kibao’s mutilated body was discovered in Dar es Salaam.
A day later, the EU, Britain, Canada, Norway, and Switzerland issued a joint statement expressing concern over political violence and disappearances.
Hassan firmly stated that Tanzania does not require external guidance, pledging to uphold the country’s Constitution.
She emphasized that safeguarding Tanzania’s security is the government’s responsibility, without foreign involvement or interference.
