Tesla recalling 2.2 million vehicles in US due to visual indicator

Tesla is recalling 2.2 million vehicles in the US because of a light indicator issue, according to a US regulator.

“On affected vehicles, the letter font size of the Brake, Park and Antilock brake system (ABS) visual warning indicators is smaller than 3.2 millimeters (0.126 inches),” the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said Friday in a statement.

A visual warning indicator whose letter font size is smaller than 3.2 millimeters (0.126 inch), could reduce the driver’s detection of it when illuminated, increasing the risk of a collision, it added.

The vehicles include certain 2023 Model S, X, Y and 3 vehicles.

The American carmaker recalled 2 million vehicles in the US last year amid a defective system that could impair drivers’ attention when using its self-driving feature, and an additional 200,000 vehicles last month due to a rearview camera issue.

Last May, the company also recalled more than 1.1 million vehicles in China due to braking issues.
