Trump urges 30-day Russia-Ukraine truce for peace

US President Donald Trump has called for a 30-day “unconditional” ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine, urging a swift path to peace.

Writing on his Truth Social platform late Thursday, Trump stressed the ceasefire should serve as a stepping stone toward a lasting peace agreement.

“Talks with Russia/Ukraine continue. The U.S. calls for, ideally, a 30-day unconditional ceasefire,” Trump declared, urging both sides to uphold the sanctity of negotiations.

He warned that failure to respect the ceasefire would prompt further sanctions by the US and its international partners.

Trump reaffirmed his commitment to working with European allies to end the war, vowing to remain ready to intervene if called upon.

“This ceasefire must ultimately build toward a Peace Agreement,” he said. “It can all be done very quickly.”

Framing peace as urgent yet attainable, Trump added, “A Lasting Peace it will be!” expressing readiness to assist “on a moment’s notice.”

The President’s comments come amid escalating global pressure to halt the prolonged and devastating conflict in Eastern Europe.

While Trump holds no formal role in current diplomacy, his statements are seen as an attempt to shape future US engagement with the war.

The proposal, though lacking detail, signals an appeal for immediate de-escalation and renewed focus on diplomatic resolution.
