The United Kingdom has announced a $116.3 million aid package for Gaza and the occupied West Bank as Palestinians continue to face severe humanitarian conditions.
The funding will support clean water, healthcare, sanitation, hygiene services and waste management, according to the UK government.
British officials announced the package during the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
The support will also fund medical consultations, rehabilitation for children with blast injuries and mental health services.
UK aid package targets urgent needs in Gaza
The UK government said the package would provide essential services to hundreds of thousands of Palestinians.
The announcement comes as Gaza continues to face severe shortages of basic services.
UN humanitarian officials said earlier this month that most of Gaza’s population remained displaced.
Meanwhile, access to water, sanitation, healthcare and shelter remains under severe pressure.
Humanitarian organisations have also reported restrictions affecting their ability to deliver assistance.
Gaza humanitarian crisis continues
The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs has described conditions across the occupied Palestinian territory as deeply alarming.
Most of Gaza’s roughly 2.1 million residents remain displaced.
In addition, humanitarian organisations face restrictions on accessing some areas and bringing essential supplies into the territory.
The crisis has also severely affected Gaza’s water system.
Earlier this month, the UN reported that around one million people dependent on the Israeli water grid had experienced reduced supplies.
The humanitarian situation has unfolded amid continuing Israeli military operations in Gaza.
A UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry concluded in 2025 that Israeli authorities and security forces had committed genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.
The commission reiterated in June 2026 that it considered genocidal acts to be continuing.
Israel has rejected allegations that its military campaign amounts to genocide.
Violence rises in occupied West Bank
Conditions have also deteriorated in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem.
UN officials have reported increasing displacement, Israeli settler attacks and restrictions on Palestinian movement.
According to UN figures presented earlier this month, at least 79 Palestinians, including 19 children, had been killed in the West Bank during 2026.
Around 1,870 Palestinians had been injured and more than 3,700 displaced.
The UN has also documented hundreds of Israeli settler attacks against Palestinian communities this year.
Palestine dominates UN discussions
The UK announcement comes as Gaza and the occupied West Bank feature prominently at the UN General Assembly.
British Prime Minister Andy Burnham told delegates that failure to achieve a two-state solution would further undermine confidence in international efforts to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
The UK has also joined international calls for greater humanitarian access to Gaza.
Meanwhile, British Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband said at a UN meeting on Thursday that he was “appalled by the suffering of the Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank.”
The UK government said it was working with Jordan and Qatar to increase humanitarian access and support Gaza’s recovery.
However, humanitarian organisations have repeatedly stressed that funding alone cannot address Gaza’s needs without sustained access to civilians and essential infrastructure.
