UN Tourism ranks Angola among the top destinations in Africa

UN Tourism has ranked Angola as one of Africa’s top-performing destinations following a 28% surge in international arrivals.

The southwest African nation welcomed 223,140 travelers in 2025, rising from 174,408 visitors during the previous calendar year.

A joint report by UN Tourism and Angola’s Tourism Ministry confirmed this dramatic expansion within the regional travel sector.

This soaring popularity has caught the eye of prominent British tour operators who are actively developing new travel itineraries.

Beyond rising visitor numbers, the country anticipates receiving around three billion dollars in foreign direct investment by late 2025.

Favorable private investment laws currently permit complete foreign ownership alongside robust and legally guaranteed capital returns for external businesses.

Furthermore, a national tourism initiative called PLANATUR has successfully mobilized more than eight billion euros for domestic development.

Angola has achieved highly open regional access by implementing comprehensive visa exemptions for citizens from ninety different countries.

Additionally, government officials have already approved over 500 million euros to fund priority tourism infrastructure across the nation.

Tourism Minister Márcio Daniel stated that economic diversification strategies are successfully transforming tourism into a major national mainstay.

Daniel highlighted growing investor trust as a vital foundation for long-term job creation and sustainable global destination branding.

Known as one of Earth’s last great adventures, the vibrant nation blends dramatic rainforests with vast, sweeping coastal deserts.

The capital city of Luanda serves as a rhythmic Atlantic gateway defined by rich Portuguese and indigenous cultural history.

Operating under the new slogan “Visit Angola – The Rhythm of Life,” the country positions itself for intrepid global explorers.
