Prince William of Britain began a four-day visit to South Africa on Monday, focusing on environmental issues and youth engagement.
The Prince, 42, kicked off his trip by meeting with young environmentalists from Africa and Asia, who are part of a new program supporting the Earthshot Prize.
This prestigious award, launched by William in 2020, aims to recognize and fund innovative solutions to environmental challenges.
Later, William joined a rugby coaching session at a secondary school in Ocean View township, alongside former South African rugby star Tendai Mtawarira.
This engagement highlights the Prince’s interest in using sport as a tool for social change.
The Earthshot Prize awards ceremony will take place on Wednesday, where five winners will each receive £1 million to advance their groundbreaking environmental projects.
William’s visit to South Africa is significant, as it marks his first trip to the country since 2010. He will also attend a global wildlife summit and meet with President Cyril Ramaphosa.
The Prince’s wife, Kate, is unable to join him on this trip due to ongoing health concerns.
