Mali military eliminates dozens of terrorists in two ops

Mali’s military announced on Sunday that it had successfully neutralized approximately 40 “terrorists” and dismantled one of their bases in two recent operations conducted in the central region of the country.

The operations, carried out on Thursday and Friday, targeted militant groups that have plagued the Sahel nation for years.

The military reported seizing a cache of weapons, ammunition, and vehicles during these engagements.

Since seizing power in a series of coups in 2020 and 2021, Mali’s military junta has prioritized addressing the country’s multifaceted security challenges.

However, the ongoing conflict with militant groups and separatist movements in the north continues to pose a significant threat to stability.

Mali’s political, security, and economic landscape has been severely impacted by the insurgency, which has led to widespread displacement, humanitarian crises, and a decline in government control over vast areas of the country.
