Six dead in Angola boat disaster

At least six people, including two children, have tragically lost their lives in a boat accident off the coast of Luanda, Angola’s capital.

The incident occurred on Saturday as part of a Catholic maritime procession.

The vessel, carrying over 30 passengers, capsized near Luanda Island. Despite ongoing rescue efforts, three individuals remain missing.

Seventeen survivors have been rescued, with four in critical condition.

Local authorities suspect negligence on the part of the boat’s captain, who is currently missing.

Reports suggest the boat may have been overloaded and encountered rough waters in the area.

President João Lourenço has expressed his condolences to the families of the victims.
