Nigeria says strikes kill at least 35 ISWAP militants near Cameroon border

Nigeria’s air force said it carried out strikes on Saturday that killed at least 35 Islamist terrorists near the border with Cameroon after intelligence indicated the group was preparing to attack ground troops.

The strikes hit four assembly points, air force spokesperson Ehimen Ejodame said, adding that communications were later re-established with ground units, which confirmed the area had been secured.

The operation is part of an intensified push in the northeast. The military said last week it had killed 592 armed militia members over the past eight months, exceeding gains recorded in 2024.
