Burkina Faso scraps visa fees for African travellers

Burkina Faso has removed visa fees for all African nationals to ease the movement of people and goods, Security Minister Mahamadou Sana said after a cabinet meeting chaired by junta leader Captain Ibrahim Traoré. “From now on, any citizen from an African country wishing to go to Burkina Faso will not pay any amount to cover visa fees,” he said.

Sana said African visitors will still need to submit an online visa application, which will be reviewed for approval.

The move aligns with a wider push to ease intra-African travel: Ghana said this year it would allow visa-free entry for all African passport holders, while Rwanda already offers visa-free entry to Africans.
