Libya’s football federation announced the appointment of Aliou Cisse as their new national team head coach on Tuesday.
The announcement, made via Facebook, hails Cisse, the 2022 AFCON-winning coach with Senegal, as “the best coach in Africa.”
Cisse’s contract extends until 2027, signaling a long-term commitment.
The federation provided no financial details of the contract, but confirmed Cisse, 48, will be officially presented in Tripoli on March 13.
He replaces Nasser Al-Hadhiri, who was appointed in September 2024. Cisse’s arrival is anticipated as Libya aims to strengthen its football program.
Libya failed to qualify for the upcoming AFCON in Morocco.
However, they are currently positioned second in their World Cup qualifying group.
Their next match against Angola will be a crucial test for the team.
Cisse’s experience is expected to bring a new level of strategy and discipline to the Libyan squad.
