
A boat carrying 17 people capsized on Lake Chamo in southern Ethiopia on Thursday, leaving 14 individuals missing.
Two survivors were rescued from the water by local authorities.
The vessel, loaded with bananas, sank in the lake, located south of the capital Addis Ababa.
The cause of the capsizing remains under investigation.
Among the missing are 15 workers who were tasked with unloading the bananas and the boat operator.
The search and rescue operation is currently underway, according to local officials.
Lake Chamo, known for its crocodiles and hippopotamuses, is part of the Great Rift Valley and has a maximum depth of 14 meters.
