Boko Haram attacks convoy, seven missing

At least seven members of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps have gone missing after a brutal ambush by Boko Haram insurgents in Niger State.

The incident occurred on Monday, November 18th, during a routine patrol mission.

The 80-member security team, tasked with safeguarding the nation’s power network, was overwhelmed by a force of approximately 200 insurgents.

In the ensuing clash, at least 50 Boko Haram fighters were eliminated.

The attack highlights the growing threat posed by Boko Haram, a militant group notorious for its acts of terror and sabotage.

The group’s primary target has been the northeastern region of Nigeria, but its influence has extended to other parts of the country, including Niger State.

The ongoing conflict, one of Africa’s longest-running insurgencies, has resulted in the deaths of over 35,000 civilians and the displacement of millions more.

The 2014 kidnapping of 276 schoolgirls from Chibok remains a stark reminder of the group’s brutality.

The recent ambush underscores the urgent need for increased security measures to combat the rising threat of terrorism in Nigeria.

As the nation grapples with this challenge, the international community must offer support and solidarity to help restore peace and stability.
