Clashes renew in eastern DR Congo after failed peace summit

Clashes between the Congolese army and the M23 rebel group have intensified in eastern Congo, despite recent efforts to broker a peace deal.

The M23 has made significant territorial gains, including the capture of the strategic town of Matembe.

The failed peace summit between the presidents of Congo and Rwanda has further complicated the situation.

The Congolese government has accused Rwanda of supporting the M23 rebels, while Rwanda denies any involvement.

The ongoing conflict has displaced thousands of people and caused a humanitarian crisis in the region.

The international community is urging both sides to cease hostilities and engage in meaningful dialogue to find a lasting solution to the conflict.
