Deadly landslide in Eastern Uganda sweeps away houses

At least 13 people have died, with fears the toll could rise, after a landslide struck Bulambuli district in eastern Uganda, destroying over 40 homes. Triggered by heavy rainfall, the disaster has left dozens missing.

The Ugandan Red Cross confirmed ongoing rescue operations, with many victims being children. Local reports suggest fatalities may exceed 30.

Flooding across Uganda has caused widespread destruction, including broken bridges, submerged schools, and isolated communities. The military has joined efforts to recover survivors and bodies as the government issues disaster warnings.
