South Africa has temporarily closed the Grobler’s Bridge border crossing with Botswana due to heavy rainfall and subsequent flooding.
The border crossing, which serves as a vital trade route, particularly for the mining industry in the Copperbelt region, has been temporarily suspended to prioritize the safety of travellers and personnel.
The decision to close the border was made following consultations with Botswana authorities and a thorough assessment of the situation by the Port Management Committee.
Travellers and truck operators are advised to utilize alternative border crossings during this period.
The heavy rainfall has significantly impacted the northern Limpopo province in South Africa, necessitating the closure of this crucial border crossing.
