Burkina Faso’s media regulatory body has imposed a three-month ban on a French TV news channel, alleging that it disseminated untrue details regarding extremist violence.
The country’s High Council for Communication (CSC) accused LCI of spreading misinformation, specifically claiming that extremists were making swift progress and that the government forces were sacrificing local defense force volunteers to shield themselves from the attacks.
Earlier, in April, the government expelled journalists affiliated with French newspapers Le Monde and Liberation. Additionally, two other media outlets, France 24 and Radio France International, have faced an indefinite suspension.
