Kenyan police re-arrest fugitive murder suspect who escaped custody

Kelvin Kangethe, a 41-year-old murder suspect wanted by US authorities for the killing of his girlfriend in Boston, has been re-arrested by Kenyan police after his recent escape from custody in Nairobi.

The suspect, awaiting a decision on extradition, was captured in Ngong, on the outskirts of the capital, following a five-day manhunt.

Last October, Kangethe allegedly murdered his girlfriend and fled to Kenya. His initial arrest in Nairobi earlier this month was followed by his escape from the Muthaiga Police Station.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations conducted a successful intelligence-led operation to recapture him. The suspect is now in custody, facing further charges related to his escape.
