Morocco’s King receives credentials of 14 new ambassadors

King Mohammed VI received several foreign ambassadors at the Royal Palace in Rabat.

Notably absent was the new French Ambassador to Rabat, Christophe Lecourtier, who had submitted copies of his credentials to the Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita, on December 30, 2022, as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to Morocco.

There has been no official comment on the reason for the French ambassador’s absence, but observers attribute it to the deterioration of Moroccan-French relations.

The 14 ambassadors who were received by King Mohammed VI include representatives from Denmark, Qatar, Comoros, Colombia, Djibouti, Japan, Ethiopia, Germany, Paraguay, Somalia, Sudan, Russia, Panama, and Guinea.

The reception was attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and African Cooperation, Nasser Bourita, and the Royal Advisor, Sidi Mohammed El Alaoui.
