RSF blames Burhan’s army for sabotaging Sudan peace talks

Sudan’s armed muscle Rapid Support Forces (RSF) accused al Burhan of sabotaging peace talks aimed at ending the country’s conflict.

On Sunday, the RSF said in a statement on social media platform X, rival al Burhan-controlled SAF, influenced by the Islamic Movement, has blocked ceasefire efforts and humanitarian crisis resolutions.

The RSF stressed its involvement in Jeddah and Manama negotiations, showing a willingness to compromise.

However, it underlined that al Burhan-controlled SAF, led by Islamist elements, has been inflexible, prioritizing its interests over the Sudanese people’s suffering.

The RSF also accused al Burhan-controlled SAF of rejecting a UN Security Council humanitarian truce and skipping upcoming Geneva talks.

Sudan’s RSF stated these actions show Burhan’s lack of commitment to peace and desire to extend the conflict.

Despite these claims, the RSF affirmed its readiness to continue peace talks.

It reiterated its commitment to a comprehensive ceasefire, humanitarian access, and a civilian-led political process, stressing that no legitimate government has existed since the October 2021 coup.

The RSF also urged ending the war and the creation of a democratic Sudan founded on social justice and equality.
