RSF delegation arrives in Geneva for US-backed peace talks on Sudan

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) announced on the social media platform X that their delegation has arrived in Geneva today, in response to a U.S. invitation.

This visit marks a significant step toward addressing the escalating Sudanese crisis, which has been intensified by remnants of the old regime and elements within the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF).

The Geneva Peace Talks are set to tackle the worsening situation in Sudan. The RSF’s delegation arrival underscores their commitment to peace and dialogue.

Their key objectives include achieving a nationwide cessation of hostilities, facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid, and creating a robust monitoring and verification mechanism to ensure any agreements made in Geneva are effectively implemented.

In their statement on X, the RSF emphasized that their presence in Geneva demonstrates a sincere desire to alleviate the suffering of the Sudanese people and to actively engage with regional and international efforts aimed at ending the conflict and securing lasting peace.

The RSF expressed hope for productive discussions that will not only enable humanitarian aid to reach those in need but also explore effective measures to protect civilians.

The group also anticipates that the SAF will respond to the invitation independently, free from the influence of extremist elements and remnants of the old regime.

They believe this would facilitate meaningful dialogue focused on the Sudanese people’s aspirations for recovery and freedom, and help build a new democratic state based on equality and sustainable peace.
