A government official in North Kordofan State revealed the presence of 150 cases of dengue fever in the state. At the same time, the Sudanese Ministry of Health declared that the disease is currently spreading in eight states.

The acting Sudanese Minister of Health, Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, reported a rise in dengue fever cases in the Al-Qadarif state to at least 700 cases, including eight deaths.

The Sudanese Ministry of Health stated that the disease is currently spreading in eight states in the country, including the Red Sea, Kassala, Al-Qadarif, Al-Jazira, Sennar, North Kordofan, South Kordofan, and North Darfur.

Elfateh Abdelrahman, the Minister of Health in North Kordofan, stated that the cases of dengue fever reached 150 in localities such as Umm Rawaba and Um Dam Haj Ahmed, including one case involving a doctor at the Al-Obeid Hospital.

He added that the ministry has implemented precautionary measures, including spraying campaigns, combating carriers and mosquitoes, activating laboratories, and raising awareness in the community about the disease.

He also mentioned the arrival of additional medications, solutions, and intravenous fluids for the state in the coming days.

Dengue fever patients experience severe abdominal pain, continuous vomiting, fatigue, skin rash, low blood pressure, and difficulty breathing.

The United Nations said that 80% of health facilities in Sudan have stopped services due to bombing, forced evacuation, and a shortage of medical supplies.
