Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on Sunday accused the militia of Sudanese General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan (SAF) of conducting another revenge air strike in North Darfur, continuing their attacks on civilians.
The RSF reported that the air strikes resulted in numerous civilian casualties, including children and women. The attack also led to the destruction of several homes and the city’s mosque.
In a separate incident, SAF aircraft bombed the Kandahar livestock market with explosive barrels, killing over 50 civilians and wounding dozens, most of them women food vendors, according to the RSF.
“These repeated and selective attacks are serious violations of international and humanitarian law. The RSF condemns the systematic targeting of civilians and urges the international community and humanitarian organizations to denounce these barbaric actions and terrorist practices,” the RSF stated.
“We assure the people in the targeted areas of Darfur, and all Sudanese cities and villages, that the Rapid Support Forces are committed to defeating the criminal gangs responsible for these unprecedented acts of corruption and destruction in Sudan’s history,” the RSF added.
Sudan has been embroiled in conflict between the army, led by Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, head of the ruling Sovereign Council, and the RSF since April 2023. According to UN figures, at least 13,900 people have been killed and more than eight million displaced in the ongoing violence.
Several cease-fire agreements brokered by Saudi Arabia and US mediators have failed to bring an end to the hostilities.
