Syria and Egypt foreign ministers discuss regional peace efforts

Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Hassan al-Shiban, appointed by the country’s new leadership, announced on social media that he had received a call from Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty. During their conversation, the two officials underscored the pivotal role of both nations in fostering peace in the region.

According to a statement from Egypt’s Foreign Ministry, Abdelatty reaffirmed his country’s support for the Syrian people and their rightful aspirations. He called for all parties to uphold Syria’s national institutions, unity, and sovereignty.

Abdelatty also stressed the necessity of a political process that embraces inclusivity, ensuring representation of Syria’s diverse societal, religious, sectarian, and ethnic groups.

The two ministers agreed to maintain ongoing communication on these matters.
