The TASIS-aligned administration in Nyala has held talks with representatives of the Sudanese Civil Committees.
The meeting focused on stronger cooperation with civil society.
Prime Minister Mohamed Hassan al-Taayshi met representatives of the committees’ federal office in Nyala. They discussed joint initiatives and the role of civil-society groups.
Information Minister and government spokesman Khalid Danaa also attended the meeting. Cabinet Affairs Undersecretary Musa Khudam and New Sudan News Agency director Osama Ahmed Mustafa were also present.
The Civil Committees delegation included chairman Mohamed Ghafil Juma and deputy chairman Al-As Salih Al-As. Other representatives also took part.
Committees focus on peace and education
During the talks, the committees presented several proposals.
These focused on social peace, community coexistence, education and voluntary work.
The committees said they want to contribute to peace, justice and equal citizenship in Sudan. They also highlighted the importance of the rule of law.
Al-Taayshi welcomed greater cooperation with civil society.
However, he said civil-society organisations should remain independent while working with government institutions.
The committees also presented programmes developed since the organisation was established in December 2023.
TASIS expands administration in Nyala
Meanwhile, the TASIS-aligned administration continues to develop governing structures from Nyala.
TASIS calls its administration the “Government of Peace and Unity.” It says the administration seeks to govern territories under its control and pursue a new political framework for Sudan.
However, its authority remains contested within Sudan’s divided political landscape.
In recent months, the administration has met local officials, universities and humanitarian organisations. It has also sought to expand public services.
In addition, rehabilitation work has been announced at the University of Nyala. The plans aim to restore in-person teaching after years of disruption caused by Sudan’s war.
The latest meeting brings civil-society groups into those efforts.
Both sides discussed projects focused on social cohesion, education, voluntary work and Sudan’s eventual reconstruction.
