UAE rejects Sudan case at ICJ, blaming Burhan’s army for crimes

The United Arab Emirates has dismissed General Abdel Fattah al Burhan-led government’s accusations of genocide complicity at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) as a “cynical publicity stunt.”

Burhan-backed government alleges the UAE supports the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), accused of genocide and widespread atrocities.

A UAE official countered, stating the claims “lack any legal or factual basis” and are a diversion from the Burhan’s army own involvement in the conflict.

The UAE intends to seek the “immediate dismissal” of the case, arguing it is a baseless attempt to distract from the ongoing war.

The conflict between the Burhan’s army and the RSF has resulted in tens of thousands of deaths and the displacement of over 12 million people.

The UAE consistently denies supporting the RSF, emphasizing its humanitarian efforts in Sudan.
