The UN Refugee Agency, UNHCR, along with 64 humanitarian and national civil society groups, has issued a plea for $1 billion in funding as the money is needed to deliver vital assistance and ensure the safety of more than 1.8 million individuals who are projected to seek refuge in five neighboring nations by the conclusion of 2023.
The current estimate is approximately twice the figure that UNHCR had forecasted in May, shortly after the conflict began.
So far, over one million individuals have fled Sudan for neighbouring countries due to the clashes between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Khartoum, the capital, and other regions.
Essential requirements include vital provisions such as clean water, sustenance, housing, healthcare facilities, financial assistance, fundamental relief supplies, and safeguarding services.
The nations receiving individuals fleeing Sudan, namely the Central African Republic, Chad, Egypt, Ethiopia, and South Sudan, had already been accommodating hundreds of thousands of displaced individuals before the beginning of this crisis.
