Nigerian president Tinubu heads to Turkey to widen strategic ties

Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to visit Turkey on Monday as part of efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and expand diplomatic engagement between the two countries.

According to the Nigerian presidency, the talks will focus on cooperation in key areas including security, education, social development, innovation, and the rapidly growing aviation sector.

Officials say the agenda will also include strategic discussions on finance, communications, trade, and investment, highlighting ambitions to boost economic and technological ties.

Tinubu is expected to meet senior Turkish leaders, with several memorandums of understanding likely to be signed covering scientific research, energy development, and military cooperation.

A business forum will bring together investors from both sides, aiming to turn diplomatic goodwill into concrete partnerships and commercial projects.

The visit follows President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s 2021 trip to Nigeria and is seen as part of renewed efforts to deepen cooperation between the two nations.
