Italy’s FS Engineering has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Tanzania Railways Corp (TRC) and ITS Engineering to support sustainable rail, logistics and infrastructure projects in Tanzania.
The agreement was signed in Rome on August 5, 2026, bringing together Italian and Tanzanian railway officials to strengthen cooperation in the transport sector.
Under the agreement, FS Engineering will provide technical consulting, feasibility studies and infrastructure design services to support Tanzania’s railway development.
The Italian company will also make its Digital Control Room platform available to TRC. The system uses real-time data analysis and drones to monitor major infrastructure projects.
The technology is designed to improve decision-making, project oversight and safety across large-scale railway developments.
The partnership forms part of Italy’s broader Mattei Plan, which seeks to expand infrastructure, logistics and economic cooperation with African partner countries.
The MoU was signed by FS Engineering CEO Dario Lo Bosco, TRC General Manager Machibya Masanja Shiwa and ITS Engineering Sole Director Michele Titton.
Italian Deputy Transport Minister Edoardo Rixi and Tanzanian Transport Minister Makame Mnyaa Mbarawa also attended the signing ceremony.
