Ghanaian health tech startup Berry Health raises $1.6 million

Ghanaian health tech startup, Berry Health, has secured $1.6 million in pre-seed funding, with participation from prominent investors including Lightspeed Ventures and General Catalyst.

Notably, this marks Lightspeed Ventures’ first investment in Africa, highlighting the growing potential of the African market. Additional contributors to the funding round include notable individuals such as Jen Wong, COO of Reddit, and Regina Benjamin, former US Surgeon General. A New York tech attorney and VC Betsy Zimmerman also contributed.

The significant funding injection of $1.6 million will empower Berry Health to further enhance and expand its health tech platform.

The primary objective of this investment is to address the pervasive stigma surrounding mental and sexual health in Africa. Berry Health aims to transform the region’s healthcare image by providing non-judgmental services that employ technology to overcome stigma-based barriers.
