Egypt and Turkey join forces to boost tourism

Egypt and Turkey, once fierce competitors in the tourism industry, have shifted their focus towards cooperation, according to a high-ranking Egyptian official.

Mohamed Atta Elsherbeiny, the international tourism chief at the Egyptian Tourism Authority, emphasized the mutual benefits of this partnership.

He explained that both countries offer unique attractions and cater to different tourist preferences, making them complementary rather than rival destinations.

The increased frequency of flights between the two nations, with around 100 weekly services, has significantly facilitated travel and boosted tourism exchange.

This connectivity has allowed tourists to combine visits to both countries, creating diverse and enriching travel experiences.

Elsherbeiny highlighted the role of Turkish investors in Egypt’s tourism sector.

A prominent Turkish company has already established a significant presence with seven hotels, and plans are underway to add three more to their portfolio.

Last year, Egypt welcomed approximately 180,000 Turkish tourists, demonstrating the growing popularity of the country among Turkish travelers.

The official concluded that by leveraging their complementary strengths, Egypt and Turkey can further enhance their tourism offerings and attract a larger global audience.

This strategic partnership will not only benefit both countries economically but also foster cultural exchange and understanding.
