In a recent phone call, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken discussed pressing efforts to establish a cease-fire in Gaza and Lebanon, according to Egypt’s Foreign Ministry.
The conversation highlighted urgent steps to secure an immediate cease-fire in Gaza as part of a larger deal to release hostages, the ministry said on Saturday.
Abdelatty emphasized Israel’s need to stop its escalatory actions and called for unobstructed humanitarian aid for Gaza.
Both officials discussed how to reach a swift cease-fire in Lebanon amid ongoing hostilities.
Abdelatty condemned Israeli actions violating Lebanese sovereignty and stressed Lebanon’s right to peace and stability.
The call followed an intensified Israeli air campaign against Hezbollah targets in Lebanon last month.
This escalation marks a significant uptick in violence since the start of Israel’s Gaza offensive.
Israel also expanded its military operations by entering southern Lebanon on October 1, intensifying the cross-border conflict.
According to official reports, Israel’s Gaza offensive, ongoing for over a year, has resulted in nearly 43,000 deaths and over 100,000 injuries.
The diplomatic engagement underscores mounting concerns over regional stability and humanitarian conditions.
