Egyptian aid plane lands in Damascus after Assad’s fall

An Egyptian aid plane carrying 15 tonnes of humanitarian supplies landed at Damascus airport on Saturday, marking the first such delivery since the ouster of Bashar al-Assad last month.

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry stated that this aid shipment reflects Egypt’s commitment to supporting the Syrian people.

The cargo, provided by the Egyptian Red Crescent, included essential items such as tents, blankets, food, and medical supplies.

This humanitarian gesture follows Saudi Arabia’s launch of an air bridge to Syria earlier this week, delivering much-needed aid to the war-torn country.

Syria is currently grappling with the devastating consequences of a 13-year civil war, exacerbated by crippling Western sanctions and the recent political upheaval.

The conflict has displaced millions of Syrians, leaving the country’s infrastructure in ruins and its economy on the brink of collapse.

Egypt previously provided aid to Syria following a devastating earthquake earlier this year.

This aid delivery signifies a crucial step in supporting the Syrian people as they navigate the challenges of this critical period.
