Turkey evacuates 82 nationals amid deadly unrest in Libya

Turkey evacuated 82 of its citizens from Tripoli, Libya, following days of deadly clashes between armed factions.

Foreign ministry sources confirmed the evacuation late Friday, citing conflict and insecurity.

The Turkish embassy previously announced plans for a Turkish Airlines flight from Misrata to Istanbul, with bus transport from Tripoli.

The ministry did not provide details on the returnees or future flights.

Violence erupted in Tripoli on Monday between loyalist forces and groups the government seeks to dismantle.

The UN reported at least eight civilian deaths and near-total air traffic disruption. While relative calm returned Friday, the situation remains volatile.

Turkey, backing Tripoli’s UN-recognized government, had called for a truce.

Libya has faced instability since the 2011 uprising, divided between rival authorities in the west and east.
