Turkish top diplomat heads to Djibouti for Africa conference

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will travel to Djibouti this weekend to attend the Third Ministerial Review Conference of the Turkey-Africa Partnership.

This will mark the first foreign ministerial-level visit from Ankara to Djibouti.

Fidan will hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts from Djibouti and other African nations.

The conference will review the progress of the 2022-2026 Joint Action Plan, which encompasses initiatives in various sectors, including peace and security, trade, education, infrastructure, and health.

Turkey, as one of the African Union’s strategic partners, has consistently prioritized its relationship with Africa, focusing on mutual respect, benefit, and support for the continent’s development goals.

Fidan is expected to reaffirm Turkey’s commitment to Africa’s voice on the global stage, advocating for its full participation in international forums such as the G20.

At the conclusion of the conference, a joint declaration and the 2022-2024 Joint Implementation Report are anticipated to be adopted.

The declaration will outline future plans for Turkish-African relations, while the implementation report will assess the progress made and suggest improvements for future cooperation.
