At least 38 civilians, including children, have been killed in Israeli strikes on the city of Khan Younis in Gaza since Thursday, according to the Palestinian health ministry.
Israeli forces have also carried out a nighttime raid at Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, reportedly stationing forces outside and targeting the hospital’s oxygen storage, leading to a medical evacuation.
Residents described the chaos as they searched for loved ones under debris. Local Ahmad al-Farra shared his experience, recounting the loss of 15 family members, including his mother, whom he struggled to rescue amid the bombardment.
Meanwhile, the World Health Organization (WHO) evacuated 40 patients from Kamal Adwan, calling the relocation a humanitarian measure. The Israeli army stated that its operation targeted Hamas militants and infrastructure allegedly sheltering within the hospital.
As the fighting intensifies, U.S. officials are renewing ceasefire efforts, with Hamas representatives meeting in Cairo to discuss de-escalation measures, potential troop withdrawal, and prisoner exchanges.
The conflict, sparked by a Hamas-led attack on Israel on October 7, has left Gaza’s civilian death toll near 43,000 and continues to raise fears over territorial shifts in northern Gaza, which Israel denies planning.
