On Friday, thousands of Moroccans took to the streets across the country in solidarity with Gaza, which has endured over a year of violence and alleged ethnic cleansing by Israel.
The demonstrations, organized by the Moroccan Commission for Advocating the Nation’s Causes, followed Friday prayers in various cities. They marked the 62nd consecutive week of protests.
Protesters rallied under the banner, “Gaza is a Trust, Normalization is Betrayal,” condemning Israeli actions and denouncing the normalization of relations with Israel.
Chants filled the air as demonstrators shouted, “Moroccan Salute to Free Palestine” and “Palestine Belongs to the Free.” Others carried signs reading, “Palestine is a Trust, Normalization is Betrayal.”
The protesters voiced outrage over the ongoing attacks on Palestinian civilians, highlighting the failure of the international community to intervene. The rallies also criticized Morocco’s decision to normalize relations with Israel in December 2020, after two decades of diplomatic suspension.
Since October 7, 2023, Israel’s military offensive on Gaza has killed nearly 44,900 people, predominantly women and children, in what many are calling a genocidal campaign.
