Trump vows ‘harsh lesson’ for Iran after Jordan attack

US President Donald Trump has vowed a powerful military response against Iran following an attack targeting American troops and facilities in Jordan, warning that Tehran would be taught a “harsh lesson.”

Speaking in an interview with Fox News, Trump said the Iranian attack came without warning and left US forces with only minutes to intercept the incoming missiles.

“We will respond strongly,” Trump said, without disclosing when or where the retaliatory strikes would take place.

The president also said recent US strikes against Iran-backed armed groups in Iraq had been carried out in coordination with the Iraqi government.

Describing Tehran-aligned militias as a major threat to international security, Trump said: “The militias supported by Iran are a cancer on the world.”

His comments come amid a sharp escalation in regional tensions and growing anticipation over the scale and targets of a possible US military response.

American forces across the Middle East have remained on heightened alert as fears grow that further exchanges between Washington and Tehran could trigger a wider regional conflict.
