Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) General Mohamed Hamdan Daglo on Saturday issued a new order aimed at improving the protection of civilians and facilitating humanitarian aid in the country.
The order, which comes as part of ongoing efforts to address the humanitarian crisis in Sudan, builds upon previous commitments made by the RSF during international negotiations.
According to the order, all RSF forces, including the newly established Civilian Protection Unit, are required to adhere to specific guidelines for enhancing civilian protection and facilitating humanitarian aid delivery.
These guidelines, which were announced on his personal account on social media X, are based on the RSF Law of 2017, the RSF’s commitments in Geneva, Jeddah, and Manama, and previous administrative orders, the general said.
All commanders at all levels are expected to comply with the order and implement its instructions in accordance with the RSF Law, rules of engagement, and principles of international humanitarian law.
Any violations of the order will result in legal consequences, general Daglo said.
The RSF general emphasized that this extraordinary order is in line with the outcomes of the Geneva negotiations and is part of the RSF’s regular administrative procedures, which are issued every three months.
