Egypt joins ranks of malaria-free nations

The World Health Organization (WHO) has officially certified Egypt as malaria-free.

This significant achievement marks the end of a disease that has been prevalent in the country for millennia.

To earn this certification, a country must demonstrate that indigenous malaria transmission through Anopheles mosquitoes has been successfully interrupted for at least three consecutive years.

Egypt has met this stringent criteria, joining a global group of 44 countries and one territory that have eradicated malaria.

The WHO’s announcement is a testament to Egypt’s dedication to public health and its successful implementation of malaria control measures.

This milestone is a victory for the Egyptian people and a global step towards a malaria-free world.
