The Turkish ambassador to Somalia, Alper Aktas, has announced that Turkey is exploring new investment projects in the central state of Galmudug.
Aktas, leading a delegation to Dusmareb, the state’s capital, met with Galmudug’s president Ahmed Abdi Karie and his Cabinet to discuss potential infrastructure projects and the role of Turkish investments.
In a statement, Aktas said that the discussions were productive and focused on the steps needed for Galmudug’s development and the potential contributions of Turkish investments.
Turkey, a long-standing ally of Somalia, has already invested in various sectors, including education, infrastructure, and health, and has provided significant humanitarian aid.
Additionally, Turkey operates its largest overseas military facility in Mogadishu to train the Somali National Army.
